Working with others

From its early days, the CSI has worked closely with a wide range of experts from industry associations, governments, academia and civil society, to ensure that its own expertise in cement production is complemented by others’ expertise in sustainability.

Stakeholder dialogue occurs continuously.  Over the past decade, excellent relationships have been developed with many of the world’s major cement associations, helping the CSI to develop a better understanding of local issues. Important collaborative projects have also been undertaken, on a variety of climate, energy, and other sustainability issues, with organizations including: the International Energy Agency (IEA), The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Bank, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and WWF International.

Internationally-recognized senior advisors also play an important role in the CSI’s Advisory Group.

Going Forward

The CSI cannot improve the sustainability of the cement industry on its own. Only by working closely with other industry-led organizations, think-tanks and NGOs will the CSI be able to deliver to its greatest potential. Stakeholder engagement will continue to play a key part in the activities of the CSI, particularly in regions where the challenges are greatest.
